A Comprehensive Guide on can Canva Remove Backgrounds
Removing the background of an image was once a tedious task, but thanks to Canva, you can do it quickly and easily! In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to use Canva to remove the backgrounds from any of your images.
Set up a Canva account and start your design to remove background
Before starting to remove the background of any image, ensure you have a Canva account and the picture you are going to use. Log into your Canva account and click “Create a Design”. Choose the type of file you wish to use (e.g., website, Instagram post) and set canvas size. Once on your design page, go ahead and press “Uploads” on the left-hand side menu then upload the desired image from your computer.
After uploading the new canvas design, click on the “Edit” icon, located at the top right corner of your screen. From there, you can choose the “Cutout” tool to begin removing the background from your image. The Cutout tool has three different options: Brush, Lasso, and Background Remover which you can use depending on what your requirements are.
Paint areas you want to keep and remove background using Canva
Once you’ve chosen from one of the three options, use it to mark out the parts of the image you want to keep. The Background Remover and Lasso options will only allow you to draw outlines around the areas you want to keep and automatically replace the rest of the background with a white color. Whereas, using the brush option, you can paint in specific areas of your image that you want to keep and then click “Remove” to get rid of everything else.
Identify more complex shapes with brush tools, lines, and curves
For more complex shapes, patterns, and artistic effects, use Canva’s Brush and Line tools. With the Brush tool you can draw freehand lines around the parts of your image you want to keep. The curves feature lets you arbitrarily draw curved lines and make jagged selections with ease. When finished, click “Remove” to erase everything else.
Delete white or unwanted pixels with Pixel perfect mode and the magic wand tool
The Magic Wand tool is great for removing background images and selecting large areas with a single click. You can adjust the sensitivity of the selection by adjusting the “Threshold” and tweaking various parameters like color similarity and opacity. When you’re done, just hit “Delete” to remove anything in the background outside of your selection. To select smaller areas with higher accuracy, try Canvas Pixel Perfect option. Here you can manually select the exact pixels you want to delete, allowing for much more precise background removal.
